I am, unfortunately, the dis-satisfied owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT with the LH6 version of the 5300 series V8. You can read about my vehicle's history here. I chose this particular vehicle when my wife and I were expecting our newborn twin boys (we already had an 18 month old). We looked for a vehicle that was small enough for my wife to drive comfortably, with 3 row seating that also had the ability to pull a boat if needed. The Trailblazer EXT with the V8 engine seemed to fit the bill perfectly. We really did like the vehicle. But it has been a real burden with major transmission and engine failures. This particular vehicle has experienced 3 catastrophic (vehicle disabling) failures in the 114,000 miles since new.
I am not out on a personal vendetta against Chevrolet or General Motors. But I am very interested to see how many others have experienced similar problems, particularly with the 5300 series V8 engines. I have researched and learned that there are others that have experienced;
I know there are others that have experienced these problems but I'd like to determine the scope of the issue and possibly start a running list of us who feel that these problems are un-reasonable and would like to see the General Motors corporation show some accountability with this issue.

- Excessive oil consumption
- Engine mis-fires
- Fouled and cracked spark plugs
- Cylinder head failure
